Nearly everybody has a phobia or something traumatic from their past that could do with being dealt with. Whether it is something that happened in your teens or adulthood, a phobia of flying or maybe of public speaking, then the Emotional Freedom Technique could be for you.
The emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a therapy that is gaining popularity among many people. Many therapists such as hypnotherapists, psychotherapists, counsellors and even medical staff are learning about the benefits for their patients. While the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) looks like a strange technique at first and appears very similar to the realms of tree-hugging and other new-age techniques, it seems to work. For most people, that’s all that counts.
EFT is a process of tapping on certain parts of your body while humming and moving your eyes in certain directions while thinking about the issue that is making you feel bad. EFT is a healing method that supposedly works by releasing emotional blockages in the energy system. This idea has been questioned by many because there is no proof of the existence of an energy system or Meridians.
The more logical explanation is that it desensitizes and alters the image of your phobia or upsetting issue. You see, each time you experience something like a phobia, you run an image through your mind of what “might happen”. This is what makes us feel bad and not be in the situation. By running through this picture in your head, while doing things like humming, tapping and moving your eyes, our minds can experience the image differently. When you see the image of your ex or something that brings back a painful memory, EFT lets you change how you feel about it. And changing your feelings, helps you to get rid of the pain.
